Description
Aeromax 5mg Tablet is a medication containing Montelukast, designed to help manage and control symptoms of asthma and allergic rhinitis. It works by blocking the action of certain chemicals (leukotrienes) in the body that cause inflammation and narrowing of the airways. This makes it easier to breathe and prevents asthma attacks. Aeromax 5mg is typically prescribed for long-term control and prevention of asthma symptoms and can also be used to relieve allergy symptoms, such as sneezing, itchy eyes, and a runny or stuffy nose.
Functions
Aeromax 5mg Tablet works by inhibiting the effects of leukotrienes, which are chemicals produced in the body that cause swelling and narrowing of the airways. By blocking these chemicals, Montelukast helps reduce inflammation and bronchoconstriction (narrowing of the airways). It is used for the prevention and management of asthma, and also helps in controlling symptoms related to seasonal and allergic rhinitis, such as nasal congestion and sneezing. Montelukast is particularly useful in preventing asthma triggered by exercise or allergens.
Precautions
Before taking Aeromax 5mg, inform your doctor if you have any history of psychiatric disorders such as depression or anxiety, as this medication can sometimes affect mood and behavior. Patients with liver disease or those who are allergic to any ingredients in the medication should use it with caution. Additionally, pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before using Aeromax, as its safety during pregnancy and lactation has not been fully established. If you are allergic to aspirin or NSAIDs, avoid using these medications while taking Aeromax.
Side Effects
Common side effects of Aeromax 5mg include headache, stomach pain, and fatigue. Some users may experience gastrointestinal issues such as nausea or diarrhea. Serious side effects, although rare, can include allergic reactions (such as rash, swelling, or difficulty breathing), liver problems (elevated liver enzymes), and mood changes (such as depression or suicidal thoughts). If any of these severe side effects occur, contact your healthcare provider immediately. Always inform your doctor about any unusual symptoms that may arise during the course of treatment.
Cautions
Aeromax 5mg should not be used to relieve acute asthma attacks. It is a long-term preventive treatment, not a rescue medication. If you experience symptoms of Churg-Strauss syndrome (a rare disorder associated with asthma), such as unexplained weight loss, muscle pain, or flu-like symptoms, discontinue the medication and consult your doctor. Do not abruptly replace other asthma therapies, such as inhaled steroids, with Aeromax unless advised by your healthcare provider. The chewable tablet form of Montelukast contains aspartame, which should be avoided by patients with phenylketonuria (PKU). Always follow the prescribed dosage and avoid exceeding one dose per day.
