Product Details:

Brivace 100mg Tablets contain brivaracetam, a medication primarily used for treating epilepsy. Brivaracetam binds selectively to synaptic vesicle protein 2A (SV2A) in the brain, which is thought to modulate the release of neurotransmitters and provide anticonvulsant effects. This makes it effective in controlling certain types of seizures.

Purpose:

Brivace 100mg Tablets are prescribed for the management of partial seizures, which affect one side of the brain and may spread to both sides, known as secondary generalization. It is commonly used in patients with epilepsy, particularly those who experience partial-onset seizures.

Warnings:

1. Suicidal Thoughts: Patients should be closely monitored for any signs of suicidal thoughts or behaviors. If you experience such thoughts, contact your doctor immediately.
2. Hepatic Impairment: Patients with liver problems may require dosage adjustments. Limited clinical data is available for those with pre-existing hepatic conditions.
3. Allergic Reactions: Avoid use if you are allergic to brivaracetam, or similar compounds like levetiracetam or piracetam.

Adverse Effects:

Common side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, flu-like symptoms, fatigue, vertigo, nausea, constipation, and insomnia. Other potential effects may include decreased appetite, psychotic disorders, aggressive behavior, and a decrease in white blood cells (neutropenia).

Cautions:

• Suicide Risk: A small number of patients using anti-epileptic drugs like brivaracetam may develop suicidal thoughts. Immediate medical attention is recommended if such thoughts occur.
• Drug Interactions: Be cautious when using Brivace with other medications such as rifampicin, St John’s wort, CYP2C19 inhibitors (like fluconazole), carbamazepine, phenobarbital, and phenytoin. Always consult your healthcare provider before combining treatments.
