Saveril Tablets contain Clozapine, an atypical antipsychotic that works differently from traditional antipsychotics. Unlike classic medications, Clozapine exhibits low dopamine-receptor-blocking activity while showing high potency at the D4 receptor. It also has potent effects on the alpha-adrenergic, cholinergic, and histaminic systems, making it effective in treating resistant forms of schizophrenia.

Purposes

Saveril Tablets are specifically designed for patients with treatment-resistant schizophrenia. This means it is used when other antipsychotic medications have not been effective or have caused intolerable side effects. The unique properties of Clozapine make it a valuable option in managing this challenging condition.

Warnings

1. Agranulocytosis Risk: Saveril Tablets can cause a severe drop in white blood cells, a condition known as agranulocytosis. Regular monitoring of white blood cell (WBC) counts and absolute neutrophil count (ANC) is mandatory to reduce the risk.

2. Bone Marrow Disorders: Patients with a history of bone marrow disorders should only be treated with Clozapine if the benefits outweigh the risks, and a hematologist should be consulted.

3. Ethnic Neutropenia: Individuals with benign ethnic neutropenia should only start Saveril Tablets under the guidance of a hematologist.

Adverse Effects

Common side effects include severe constipation, rapid heartbeat, signs of infection (fever, sore throat), seizures, fainting, respiratory issues, pancreatitis, and circulatory collapse. Some patients may experience difficulties in swallowing, nausea, vomiting, and sleep-related breathing interruptions. Weight gain and obesity are also reported.

Cautions

Before starting treatment with Saveril Tablets, it is crucial to ensure that the patient has not previously had a severe hematological reaction to Clozapine. Prescriptions should only cover the interval between two blood tests to ensure safety. Regular blood monitoring is essential throughout the treatment to avoid potential life-threatening condition
