Product Details
Tavanic 250mg Tablets contain Levofloxacin, a synthetic broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections. Levofloxacin works by inhibiting the DNA-gyrase enzyme, which is essential for bacterial replication. This makes 250mg Tablets highly effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, as well as anaerobic organisms. It is commonly used in the treatment of respiratory infections, urinary tract infections (UTIs), skin infections, and certain types of pneumonia.
Purposes
Tavanic 250mg Tablets are used to treat bacterial infections such as acute and chronic sinusitis, community-acquired pneumonia, complicated skin and soft tissue infections, acute pyelonephritis, and bronchitis. In addition, 250mg Tablets can be prescribed for typhoid and paratyphoid fever, as well as both complicated and uncomplicated UTIs. Its broad-spectrum activity makes it a reliable choice for treating various bacterial infections.
Warnings
Patients using Tavanic 250mg Tablets should avoid excessive exposure to sunlight, as the medication can make the skin more sensitive. If skin eruptions occur, discontinue use immediately and consult a healthcare provider. Ensure adequate hydration to prevent the formation of highly concentrated urine. Use with caution in patients with renal insufficiency, as dose adjustments may be necessary.
Adverse Effects
Common side effects of 250mg Tablets include nausea, diarrhea, loss of appetite, and abdominal discomfort. Other possible reactions are headaches, dizziness, insomnia, and rashes. More serious but rare side effects include tendon pain or rupture, particularly in the Achilles tendon. Seek immediate medical attention if severe allergic reactions, such as swelling or difficulty breathing, occur.
Cautions
Before starting 250mg Tablets, inform your doctor if you have any allergies, particularly to quinolones or fluoroquinolones. Patients with kidney issues or those taking antacids, multivitamins, or NSAIDs should use caution as these can interact with Levofloxacin. Always follow your doctor’s prescribed dosage and finish the entire course of medication, even if symptoms improve before completion.
