Product Details

Vadil 12.5 mg Tablets contain carvedilol, a non-selective beta-blocker with vasodilatory properties. Carvedilol works by reducing peripheral vascular resistance through selective alpha-1 receptor blockade and suppressing the renin-angiotensin system via non-selective beta-blockade. This results in decreased plasma renin activity and minimizes fluid retention, making it effective in managing various cardiovascular conditions.

Purposes

Tablets are prescribed to treat a range of cardiovascular issues including angina (chest pain), mild to severe heart failure, and high blood pressure (hypertension). By improving blood flow and reducing heart strain, Vadil helps manage these conditions effectively.

Warnings

  • Vadil may cause bradycardia (slow heart rate). If the pulse rate drops below 55 beats per minute and symptoms related to bradycardia are observed, the dosage should be reduced accordingly.
  • When used with calcium channel blockers such as verapamil or diltiazem, or with antiarrhythmics like amiodarone, patients' blood pressure and ECG should be monitored closely. Avoid intravenous co-administration of Vadil with these drugs.
  • Use Vadil with caution in patients with a history of serious allergic reactions or those undergoing desensitization therapy, as it may exacerbate anaphylactic reactions. It should also be used carefully in patients with psoriasis as skin reactions may worsen.

Adverse Effects

Common side effects of Vadil Tablets may include:

  • Respiratory infections, bronchitis, and pneumonia
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Elevated cholesterol levels and weight gain
  • Depression, visual disturbances, and dizziness
  • Fluid retention, swelling, and impaired renal function

Less common but severe side effects can include myocardial ischemia, arrhythmias, and severe respiratory issues. If any severe symptoms occur, medical attention should be sought immediately.

Cautions

  •  Tablets should be used with caution in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or bronchospasms. Monitoring is essential, and dosage adjustments may be needed if bronchospasms occur.
  • Patients with liver disease or those with impaired heart conduction (heart block) should not use Vadil. It is important to consult with your physician before starting this medication, especially if you have any pre-existing conditions or are pregnant. Store Tablets at room temperature, away from direct light and heat.
