Description

Ab-clor 250mg Capsule is a broad-spectrum antibiotic containing Cefaclor, a cephalosporin antibiotic. It is commonly used to treat bacterial infections such as ear infections (otitis media), urinary tract infections, respiratory infections (including acute bronchitis, pneumonia, and pharyngitis), as well as skin and soft tissue infections. By targeting and inhibiting bacterial growth, Ab-clor helps to eliminate the infection and promotes quicker recovery.

Functions

Ab-clor works by disrupting the bacterial cell wall synthesis, which is essential for the bacteria’s survival. This causes the bacteria to weaken and eventually die, allowing the body to fight off the infection. It is effective against a variety of bacterial pathogens responsible for infections in the respiratory, urinary, and skin systems.

Precautions

Ab-clor should be used cautiously in individuals with a history of allergic reactions to penicillin or other cephalosporin antibiotics. It should also be used with care in people with renal (kidney) impairments, as they may require dose adjustments. Patients with gastrointestinal disorders such as colitis should also consult their doctor before using this medicine. Pregnant women may use Ab-clor, but it is important to consult a healthcare provider before starting the medication. The safety of this antibiotic during breastfeeding is not fully established, so medical advice should be sought.

Side Effects

Some common side effects of Ab-clor may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. In rare cases, more serious side effects such as allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling), hemolytic anemia (premature breakdown of red blood cells), and pseudomembranous colitis (inflammation of the colon) can occur. If any severe symptoms like difficulty breathing, rash, or persistent diarrhea occur, contact your doctor immediately.

Cautions

  • Pregnancy: Ab-clor is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy, but always consult a doctor before taking any medication during pregnancy.
  • Lactation: It is advised to consult your doctor before using Ab-clor if you are breastfeeding, as the effects on nursing infants are not fully known.
  • Kidney Function: Patients with kidney problems should use Ab-clor cautiously, and may require dosage adjustments.
  • Allergy Alert: If you are allergic to cephalosporins or penicillin, you should avoid using Ab-clor and inform your doctor.
  • Alcohol and Drug Interactions: Avoid taking alcohol and inform your doctor about any other medications you are using, as there may be interactions that affect the effectiveness of the drug.
