Description
Advantan Cream 10g 0.1% is a topical corticosteroid formulated with Methylprednisolone Aceponate. This potent anti-inflammatory cream is designed to treat a variety of inflammatory skin conditions, including eczema, dermatitis, and other allergic skin reactions. It provides relief from itching, redness, and swelling by reducing inflammation in the affected areas. Advantan is applied directly to the skin and helps manage conditions that cause chronic flare-ups, promoting faster healing and improving skin appearance.
Functions
Advantan Cream works by inhibiting the production of inflammatory substances in the body, which are responsible for conditions like eczema, dermatitis, and other allergic skin disorders. When applied to the affected area, it helps soothe the skin, reduce redness, and minimize irritation. This cream is effective for conditions such as atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, and neurodermatitis, as well as more specific types of eczema like dyshidrotic eczema. Its ability to penetrate the skin barrier allows it to target the root cause of inflammation, offering effective relief from the discomfort and visible symptoms.
Precautions
When using Advantan Cream, it is important to follow your healthcare provider’s instructions carefully. For external use only, avoid contact with eyes, mucous membranes, and open wounds. Do not apply it to sensitive areas such as the genital or rectal regions for prolonged periods. Pregnant women should avoid using this medication, and it should not be used while breastfeeding. It is advised to limit the duration of use to less than 12 weeks in adults and 4 weeks in children. If no improvement is seen or if the condition worsens, consult your doctor immediately.
Side Effects
Some common side effects of Advantan Cream include skin irritation, burning, itching, or redness at the application site. Long-term use may lead to thinning of the skin, visible blood vessels, or increased body hair growth. In rare cases, it may cause perioral dermatitis (a rash around the mouth) or acne-like skin conditions. If you experience any severe reactions such as swelling, excessive irritation, or signs of an allergic reaction, discontinue use and seek medical attention.
Cautions
Advantan Cream should be used cautiously on areas with higher skin absorption, such as the face or skin folds, especially with occlusive dressings. It is not recommended for use on children under 12 years of age for extended periods. Discontinue use if irritation develops or worsens, and consult your healthcare provider. This medication is contraindicated in patients with viral infections like chickenpox, shingles, or smallpox, as well as conditions like syphilis or tuberculosis in the affected skin areas. Additionally, it should not be applied to diaper rashes in infants. Always store the cream in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
