Product Details
Dits Capsules 20 mg contain Omeprazole, a potent inhibitor of gastric acid secretion. This medication works by irreversibly blocking the enzyme system of hydrogen/potassium adenosine triphosphatase (H+/K+ ATPase), commonly known as the proton pump of the gastric parietal cell. Dits Capsules 20 mg effectively reduce both basal and stimulated acid secretion, providing relief from conditions caused by excessive stomach acid.
Purposes
Dits Capsules 20 mg are primarily indicated for the treatment of Gastro-Esophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) in adults. They are particularly effective in treating erosive reflux esophagitis, managing patients with healed esophagitis to prevent relapse, and providing symptomatic relief from gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). By controlling acid production, Dits Capsules 20 mg help alleviate discomfort and promote healing in the digestive tract.
Warnings
Before using Dits Capsules 20 mg, it’s important to rule out the possibility of gastric malignancy, as the treatment may mask symptoms and delay diagnosis. Proton pump inhibitors like Dits Capsules 20 mg, especially when used in high doses or over long periods exceeding one year, may slightly increase the risk of fractures in the hip, wrist, and spine, particularly in elderly patients or those with other risk factors. For patients with impaired hepatic function, dosage adjustments should be considered, as the bioavailability and half-life of Omeprazole can be elevated.
Adverse Effects
Common side effects of Dits Capsules 20 mg include headache, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, nausea, and flatulence. Uncommon effects may involve dizziness, insomnia, increased liver enzymes, and skin reactions such as rash or itching. Rare but serious side effects include mental confusion, depression, and hallucinations, especially in severely ill patients. Endocrine disturbances such as gynecomastia have also been reported.
Cautions
Dits Capsules 20 mg may reduce the absorption of vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin) due to the decrease in stomach acid production, which should be considered in patients with risk factors for vitamin B12 deficiency. Caution is advised when taking Dits Capsules 20 mg in combination with other medications, particularly those metabolized by CYP2C19 or CYP3A4 enzymes, as well as drugs with a narrow therapeutic index. Always consult your physician before beginning treatment with Dits Capsules 20 mg, and ensure proper storage of the medication at room temperature, away from direct light and heat.
