Product Details:

Eskem Capsules contain Esomeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that effectively reduces the amount of acid produced in the stomach. By inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme in the stomach's parietal cells, Esomeprazole helps to relieve symptoms associated with conditions like gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), gastritis, and ulcers. This medication is commonly prescribed for the treatment of heartburn, acid reflux, and other acid-related disorders.

Purposes:

• Treatment of heartburn
• Management of GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease)
• Relief from gastritis symptoms
• Healing of stomach and duodenal ulcers

Warnings:

• Hypomagnesemia: Rare cases of low magnesium levels have been reported with prolonged use of PPIs. Regular monitoring is advised for patients on long-term therapy.
• Osteoporosis-Related Fractures: Long-term and multiple daily dose PPI therapy may increase the risk of fractures of the hip, wrist, or spine, particularly in older adults.
• Drug Interaction: Avoid using Eskem Capsules in combination with clopidogrel, as it may reduce the effectiveness of the latter.

Adverse Effects:

• Common side effects include headache, gastrointestinal upset, and dry mouth.
• Skin reactions such as rash or itching may occur.
• Rarely, more serious side effects like angioedema, anaphylaxis, or fundic gland polyps have been reported.

Cautions:

• Long-Term Use: Prolonged daily use of Eskem Capsules, especially beyond three years, may lead to a deficiency in vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin). Patients should be monitored for signs of deficiency.
• Hypersensitivity: Patients with known allergies to PPIs or any of the ingredients in Eskem Capsules should avoid using this medication.
• Kidney Issues: Esomeprazole has been associated with acute interstitial nephritis. Discontinue use if symptoms occur.
