Product Details:
Glovar 40 mg is a potent proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used to reduce the production of stomach acid, providing relief from conditions associated with excessive stomach acid. This medication is commonly prescribed to treat and prevent duodenal and gastric ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and conditions like Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, which causes excessive acid production. It is also used alongside antibiotics to eradicate Helicobacter pylori infections, reducing ulcer recurrence.
Purposes:
- Treatment of duodenal and gastric ulcers
- Prevention of NSAID-induced gastric damage
- Management of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
- Treatment and prevention of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
- Eradication of Helicobacter pylori infection in combination with antibiotics
Dosage and Administration:
- Swallow Glovar 40 mg tablets whole; do not chew or crush.
- Can be taken with or without meals.
- For oral suspension, mix granules with applesauce or apple juice and take 30 minutes before meals.
- Do not save the granule mixture for later use.
Warnings:
- Pregnancy: Generally considered safe during pregnancy, but consult your doctor before use.
- Lactation: Not recommended for breastfeeding women. Seek medical advice.
- Alcohol: Avoid alcohol during treatment, as it may worsen side effects and reduce the efficacy of the medication.
- Malignancy: Ensure there are no underlying malignancies before starting treatment, as Glovar may mask symptoms of stomach cancer.
Adverse Effects:

Cautions:
- Long-term use of Glovar may result in low magnesium levels, reduced vitamin B12 absorption, and increased risk of bone fractures.

- Patients should report any unusual symptoms, such as chest pain, unrelieved diarrhea, or severe abdominal discomfort.
Contraindications:
Do not use Glovar 40 mg if you have:

- Clostridium difficile infection
- Low magnesium or vitamin B12 levels
- Osteoporosis
- Interstitial nephritis (kidney inflammation)
- Subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus
