Product Details:
Glyzia Met combines Sitagliptin and Metformin in a single tablet for effective management of type 2 diabetes. Sitagliptin, an incretin enhancer, helps to increase insulin release and reduce glucagon levels in a glucose-dependent manner. Metformin, a biguanide, lowers blood glucose by improving insulin sensitivity and reducing glucose production in the liver. This combination ensures comprehensive blood sugar control without causing hypoglycemia.
Purposes:
Glyzia Met is indicated for:
- Initial Treatment: To improve blood glucose control in patients with type 2 diabetes who have not achieved sufficient control with diet and exercise alone.
- Adjunct Therapy: To enhance glycemic control in individuals inadequately managed with Metformin or Sitagliptin alone, or those already on a combination therapy of Sitagliptin and Metformin.
Warnings:
- Hepatic Impairment: Use Glyzia Met cautiously in individuals with hepatic disease, as impaired liver function may increase the risk of lactic acidosis.
- Hypoglycemia Risk: When combined with sulphonylureas or insulin, Glyzia Met may increase the risk of hypoglycemia. Dose adjustments of sulphonylureas or insulin may be necessary.
- Pancreatitis: Monitor for symptoms of pancreatitis after starting Glyzia Met. If symptoms develop, discontinue the medication immediately and seek appropriate medical care.
Adverse Effects:
- Common: Nausea.
- Uncommon: Somnolence, diarrhea, upper abdominal pain, and reduced blood glucose levels.
Cautions:
- Renal Function: Glyzia Met is primarily excreted through the kidneys. Regular monitoring of serum creatinine levels is essential, particularly in patients with impaired renal function, to prevent lactic acidosis.
- Allergies and Sensitivities: Avoid use if you are allergic to Sitagliptin, Metformin, or any component of the tablet.
- Type 1 Diabetes: Glyzia Met is contraindicated in individuals with type 1 diabetes or those experiencing acute or chronic metabolic acidosis, including ketoacidosis with or without coma.
Storage:
Store Glyzia Met at room temperature, away from direct light and heat. Ensure it is kept out of reach of children and pets.
Pregnancy Category:
Consult your healthcare provider before using Glyzia Met if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
