Product Details
M-Low Tablets 10mg contain amlodipine besylate, a medication used to manage hypertension (high blood pressure) and angina (chest pain). This medication works by relaxing the smooth muscles in the blood vessels, which allows them to widen and reduces the overall resistance the heart has to work against. This helps to lower blood pressure and reduce the heart’s workload. Tablets are effective in controlling hypertension and can also relieve chest pain caused by reduced blood flow to the heart.
Purposes
The primary purpose of M-Low Tablets 10mg is to treat hypertension and angina. It is often used as a first-line treatment for controlling blood pressure and preventing complications such as heart attacks or strokes. This medication is also indicated for managing ischemia caused by both stable angina and variant angina (Prinzmetal’s angina).
Warnings
Patients with impaired liver function should use M-Low Tablets with caution, as the half-life of amlodipine is prolonged in these individuals. Additionally, this medication may be used at normal doses in patients with renal impairment, as there is no correlation between changes in amlodipine levels and renal function. Always consult your doctor if you are pregnant, as the safety of amlodipine during pregnancy and lactation has not been fully established.
Adverse Effects
While Tablets are generally well tolerated, some common side effects include headaches, swelling (edema), fatigue, nausea, dizziness, and flushing. If any of these effects persist or worsen, it is important to consult your healthcare provider. More severe reactions are rare but may include allergic responses, such as skin rashes or difficulty breathing.
Cautions
Patients using Tablets should avoid consuming grapefruit juice, as it may interact with the medication and alter its effectiveness. The medication is equally well-tolerated by elderly and younger patients, but close monitoring is advised for individuals with pre-existing conditions such as severe liver disease. Always follow the dosage recommended by your healthcare provider, and avoid self-adjusting the dose.
