Manufactured By: Getz

Product Details:

Vonozan contains 20 mg of Vonoprazan, a potassium-competitive acid blocker (P-CAB). Unlike traditional acid reducers, Vonoprazan works without needing activation by stomach acid. It inhibits the H+, K+-ATPase enzyme in a reversible and potassium-competitive manner. This strong base binds to the acid production site of gastric parietal cells for extended periods, effectively suppressing gastric acid production and protecting the mucosal lining of the upper gastrointestinal tract.

Purposes:

Vonozan is prescribed for the management of several gastrointestinal conditions, including:

  • Gastric ulcers
  • Duodenal ulcers
  • Reflux esophagitis
  • Prevention of recurrence of gastric or duodenal ulcers during low-dose aspirin or NSAID use

Warnings:

  1. Maintenance Therapy: Vonozan should be used for maintaining the healing of reflux esophagitis only in patients with frequent recurrences. For those who do not require ongoing maintenance, its use should be avoided.
  2. Long-Term Use: Prolonged administration may necessitate dose adjustment. Consider reducing the dose to 10 mg or discontinuing the medication if there is no risk of recurrence.
  3. Renal Considerations: Use Vonozan with caution in patients with renal impairment, as reduced excretion can lead to increased blood levels of the drug.

Adverse Effects:

Common side effects may include:

  • Diarrhea
  • Constipation
  • Nausea
  • Abdominal distension
  • Rash

Serious effects, although less common, could involve:

  • Drug hypersensitivity (e.g., anaphylactic shock)
  • Hepatotoxicity (e.g., jaundice, liver function abnormalities)
  • Edema
  • Eosinophilia

Cautions:

Always follow your physician's guidance regarding the use of Vonozan. Regular monitoring is recommended, especially for long-term therapy. Ensure to inform your healthcare provider of any existing renal conditions or if you are taking medications that might interact with Vonozan, such as CYP3A4 inhibitors.

Pregnancy Category:

Consult your healthcare provider before using Vonozan if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
